Party! and On Being Alone
So I’m currently unwinding from my little going away party… Thanks very much to everyone who was able to come!
The thing that I keep realizing is that I’m not alone. This is repeatedly proving to be a profound piece of my life right now, and I want to learn this more and more. Being connected to others is truly what is important in life and I hate that my decision to move to Zambia is disconnecting me from these people who love me so deeply.
Mainly, I suppose, this is a realization regarding Heather… She gives me so much and I’m so unappreciative. I have a lot to learn and I’m so lucky to be dating a woman who respects me, loves me, and supports me the ways that she does, even in the midst of an awful situation. Thank you, Heather.

Yeah, I remember the tiny toddler so excited to get a brother so he didn’t have to be alone (Matt’s most boring place of all) any more…you have so many wonderful friends now, they are really a blessing!
This season “alone” (of course you are not, really) will be a time of reflection and growing of yourself and in the Lord. And remember, as I know you do, this isn’t about “you” but about those you serve. Your dad and I are so proud of you for following God’s call in your life, He’s gonna bless your obedience so much, and all will be just f-i-n-e!!! We will all be with you while you are alone my precious son.

maybe i’ll just move to zambia with you.
i’m sad i missed your party! i was trying to set up a quick flight home, but i found that working full time, yet still not having money and having a one year anniversary are hard things to plan a spur of the moment trip around.
love you matt

I am SO excited for you — may God bless you and send His best adventurous/compassionate/mind&heart stretching/music-loving angels to be with you. You will never be alone! Zambia is on our list of “gotta see” countries — we’ll be sure to look you up if we’re in the neighborhood!
Start posting pictures asap — we’d love to experience it along with you!
